2023 World Baseball Classic: Schedule, TV channel, WBC scores with Team USA vs. Venezuela on Saturday

The 2023 World Baseball Classic remains in the knockout phase, with Team U.S.A. vs. Venezuela and Puerto Rico vs. Mexico on the schedule this weekend. The United States removed Colombia to punch its quarterfinal ticket, while Puerto Rico ousted the preferred Dominican Republic (however lost closer Edwin Díaz while doing so to a knee injury throughout the post-game event). The United States will play Venezuela on Saturday and Mexico deals with Puerto Rico on Friday in Miami. 

The competition is now a single-elimination bracket culminating with the last on Tuesday, March 21. Japan and Cuba are currently into the semifinals after wins over Italy and Australia, respectively, in Tokyo.

This variation of the WBC was initially expected to be played in 2021 however was held off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Action got going on Wednesday, March 8 (technically very first pitch of the 2023 WBC opener in Taiwan occurred at 11 p.m. ET on March 7), and there will be an overall of 47 video games.
