Kane took a heavy blow to the ankle in the 6-2 knocking of Iran prior to being changed by Callum Wilson in the 2nd half.

It is not yet understood whether the injury will keep him out of the Three Lions’ 2nd group video game versus U.S.A. on Friday, although we comprehend he is a significant doubt.

After their World Cup opener, England employer Gareth Southgate at first soft-pedaled worries over an injury to Kane, stating: “I believe Harry’s fine.

“It looked like a bad tackle but he carried on in the game. We took him off because we felt it was a moment in the game we could do that.

Even if the scan shows up nothing serious, Southgate may now choose to rest Kane against the USA to protect him. If Kane can’t play, Wilson would vie for a starting spot with Marcus Rashford, who scored in the win over Iran.

It would be a significant blow to lose the Tottenham star, though. He did not get himself on the scoresheet against Iran but he laid on assists for Rashford and Raheem Sterling.

He is also a proven scorer at major tournaments having scored six times at the 2018 World Cup and another four at Euro 2020.
