For the very first time this season, the NL West competitor Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres fulfilled on Friday night. Thanks mostly to Fernando Tatis Jr., the Padres chased after future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw in the 5th inning, and went on to win the video game 5-2 at Petco Park (box rating).
Los Angeles took a fast 1-0 lead in the top of the very first inning, then Tatis reacted with a solo crowning achievement versus Kershaw in the 3rd and a two-run homer versus Kershaw in the 5th. Tatis now has 15 crowning achievement in 38 profession video games versus the Dodgers, and is 7 for 20 (.350) with 4 homers versus Kershaw.
Kershaw was not specifically sharp Friday night. He went into the video game with 5 strolls in 6 starts this season, then strolled 5 batters in 4 2/3 innings versus San Diego. It was his very first five-walk start considering that Aug. 1, 2019. Kershaw was charged with 4 work on 8 hits and 5 strolls in those 4 2/3 innings.
Opposite Kershaw, previous Dodger Yu Darvish held the Dodgers to 2 runs in 6 2/3 crisp and effective innings. He started out 6 and retired 14 successive batters covering the 2nd and seventh innings. Only 7 of the 24 batters Darvish dealt with struck the ball out of the infield.
Tatis returned from his 80-game performance-enhancing drug suspension on April 20. He went 2 for 5 with the 2 crowning achievement Friday and is striking .267/.302/.500 with 4 homers in his 13 video games back with the group. The Padres are 9-4 in those 13 video games.
With Friday’s win, the Padres are 18-15 on the young season. The Dodgers are 19-14 and in top place in the NL West. Including Friday, these 2 groups will play 6 times in the next 10 days.
