Phillip Lindsay to play against Broncos, his former team, on ‘Thursday Night Football’

With star running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) dismissed for a Thursday Night Football face-off versus the Denver Broncos, the Indianapolis Colts are relying on their practice team for backfield supports.

The Colts have raised running back Phillip Lindsay to the game-day lineup for Week 5, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Lindsay will now coordinate with Nyheim Hines in the Colts’ backfield and face his previous group in a nationally-televised video game.

Lindsay signed up with the Broncos as a college complimentary representative out of Colorado in 2018 and he went on to hurry for 2,550 lawns and 17 goals in 3 seasons (42 video games), making a Pro Bowl nod as a novice in 2018.

When the running back’s agreement was set to end in 2021, Broncos basic supervisor George Paton positioned a low-round tender on Lindsay. The running back’s representative then requested for his customer to be launched and Denver approved the demand and rescinded Lindsay’s tender.

“We wanted to do right by Phillip,” Paton stated in 2021. “He’s been a great player here and he’s been great in the community. He’s one of the more popular players for the Broncos the last few years and we wanted to let Phillip hit the market and maximize his value, so that’s what we did. He deserves that.”

Many fans were dissatisfied by the group’s choice, however Lindsay stated at the time that he had “nothing but respect” for Paton and the franchise.

Lindsay then went on to sign a one-year handle the Houston Texans and he made simply over $2 million that season prior to being launched. Lindsay then ended up the 2021 season with the Miami Dolphins, playing in 4 video games.

When he ended up being a complimentary representative once again previously this year, Lindsay signed a one-year handle the Colts. He stopped working to make their 53-man lineup in August however rapidly re-signed to Inday’s practice team a week later on. Lindsay is now set to get his very first regular-season chance to impress with the Colts, and fittingly, it will protest his previous group.

Thursday’s video game will start at 6:15 p.m. MT on Prime Video.
