SEATTLE – Royals catcher Salvador Perez left Saturday night’s video game versus the Mariners after being struck on the left hand by a 94.1 miles per hour pitch in the seventh inning.
Perez — who leads the group with 5 crowning achievement after belting 48 in 2015, the single-season MLB record for a main catcher — was struck by a four-seam fastball by Seattle reducer Yohan Ramirez.
Perez decreased to the ground and was taken care of by group athletic fitness instructors prior to shaking it off and moseying to very first base. He scored when the next batter, Carlos Santana, homered into the right-field bleachers.
But Perez did not return behind the plate in the bottom of the inning, having actually been changed by Cam Gallagher.
